Accelerate for Businesses

Grants to Canada nonprofit and for-profit organizations to collaborate with universities for research projects in any sector. Applicants must consult staff before applying. The purpose of this program is to solve research challenges by engaging academic expertise. This program supports proposals from partner organizations and academic researchers.
This program helps applicants solve their research challenges with academic expertise, leveraged funding, and one-to-one support from Mitacs. Ongoing - Submit proposals at least eight (8) weeks prior to the planned start date of the internship. For international travel, a minimum of 16 weeks lead time is required.
Eligibility Criteria

Term of Contract

Each internship unit must be no less than 4 months and no greater than 6 months.

Interns may complete up to 4 internship units (4-6 months each) during a Master’s degree, and up to 8 internship units during a PhD, and Post-doctoral Fellows may complete a maximum of 9 internship units.

The start date of the internship has to be after research approval and the receipt of the partner funds at Mitacs.

Estimated Size of Grant
Per 4- to 6-month unit: $15,000 For six or more units with three or more interns: $13,300 per project unit
