Buildings Edition: Chapter 2

Opportunity for USA, Canada, and International climate tech startup companies to participate in an accelerator program to promote energy-efficient buildings in New York. A qualifying application must be submitted prior to submitting a full application. Program participants will participate in virtual or in-person programming, receive technical assistance, and be eligible to apply for grant funding. Priority areas include building optimization and efficiency, electrification, zero-carbon energy, demand flexibility, energy storage, low carbon materials, next generation HVAC, modular construction, and financial innovation for existing buildings or new construction.

The second edition of The Clean Fight will be focused on high-growth, scalable solutions tackling the decarbonization of the mass-market of buildings -in particular, multifamily (affordable and non-luxury market rate), Class B/C office and mixed use properties. The accelerator helps high-impact clean building solutions scale in New York, to speed the energy transition, while boosting economic opportunity and job creation for all.The Clean Fight is focused on:Growth Stage CompaniesStartups with solutions that are ready to scale: products or services with proven efficacy, impact, and adoption that can quickly support a far bigger customer base.ImpactGHG impact, job creation, speed of implementation, and co-benefits.In light of COVID-19, health benefits continue to be of value (e.g. air quality, healthy buildings) and economic benefits (new revenue streams, quick payback, etc.).

Clean Building SolutionsThe Clean Fight is looking for best-in-class solutions to decarbonize New York’s mass-market building stock, at speed. Areas of particular interest include:ElectrificationZero-Carbon Energy and StorageBuilding Optimization and EfficiencyDemand FlexibilityNext Generation HVACLow Carbon and Modular MaterialsEnvelope SolutionsFinancial and Business Model InnovationSolutions for new builds or retrofits are welcome. If you have a solution outside of these areas, The Clean Fight encourages you to apply if you meet the other criteria.Theprogram is designed to facilitate business agreements with customers in New York. If you secure contracts as a result of the program, you must be willing to establish a presence in New York State.For information about program benefits, see pages 5-6 of the application packet (in Supporting Documents below).Time commitment averages 2-4 hours a week (between all your participating team members). This covers summits, programming, check-ins, follow-ups with customer and investor partners, working with support providers and cohort roundtables.

Estimated Size of Grant
If selected into the program, companies are eligible to apply for a grant up to $250,000.Each company will be matched with best-in-class support and assistance around their core need ($25-30k value per company).
