Community Policing Development (CPD) Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) Program

Grants to USA law enforcement agencies, tribes, government agencies, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, IHEs, and faith-based entities to establish and expand mental and behavioral health services and to develop crisis-related training programs. Applicants must complete required registrations prior to applying. Funding is intended to support community policing strategies by providing guidance on promising practices through the development and testing of innovative strategies; building knowledge about effective practices and outcomes; and supporting new, creative approaches to preventing crime and promoting safe communities.

The Department of Justice is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights, increases access to justice, supports crime victims, protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. Law enforcement plays a vital role in each of these areas, through developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with all segments of their communities, and working in partnership with those communities to provide effective crime prevention, intervention, and response services and resources.
