National Ashanti Alert Network Training and Technical Assistance Program
Cooperative agreement with a USA IHE, nonprofit or tribal organization, or for-profit for technical assistance and training related to a nationwide network to find missing adults. Applicants are advised to complete required registrations well in advance of the deadline.
The BJA National Ashanti Alert Network Training and Technical Assistance Program will continue to build on the current training and technical assistance (TTA) program that was started in fiscal year (FY) 2020 to assist in the development and implementation of the National Ashanti Alert Network (“Network”). This TTA program will also assist BJA in completing the elements set forth in the Ashanti Alert Act for the development, implementation, and maintenance of this national alert system to assist with the reporting and location of missing adults over the age of 17. The program will also provide the report that the Attorney General will deliver to Congress as required by the act.During the 18-month program period, the TTA provider will receive oversight and guidance from BJA, be required to achieve the following goals and objectives, including, but not limited to:GoalsProvide, under oversight and guidance from BJA, high-quality, cost-effective technical assistance to state, local, territorial, and tribal (SLTT) jurisdictions with regard to the National Ashanti Alert Network.Provide training to SLTT jurisdictions to help develop their programs, participate in the National Ashanti Alert Network, or develop public awareness education with the intent to reduce victimization.Continue to develop and expand the state pilot program.ObjectivesIncrease knowledge about the Network to SLTT missing person programs with the intent to have them either participate in the pilot program or submit an Ashanti Alert Plan to the Department of Justice.Improve SLTT programs’ and communities’ knowledge about the Ashanti Alert Act and Network.Increase the ability of SLTT agencies to share missing person information electronically with the intent to assist in locating missing adults.Provide regular communication to BJA that assesses the impact of the TTA services on the National Ashanti Alert Network Program.Specific Information:https://bja.ojp.gov/sites/g/files/xyckuh186/files/media/document/O-BJA-2021-119003.pdf#page=5Deliverables:https://bja.ojp.gov/sites/g/files/xyckuh186/files/media/document/O-BJA-2021-119003.pdf#page=6
